Our Writing Team

Karsten De Bolt

Karsten De Bolt is a lifelong storyteller who, at just fifteen years old, co-wrote and published his first book, Midtown: The Forsaken Virus of the Black Realm. Karsten used his love of video games to shape his own imagination and creativity. Karsten came up with his first story at seven years old. The same story that would become Midtown. Karsten has struggled with autism all his life and has overcome every challenge he has faced to follow his dreams. He has never let his autism hold him back and has instead used it as motivation to work twice as hard. Once Karsten met his co-writer, Isaak, they transformed his early ideas for Midtown into a fully realized novel — marking just the beginning of Karsten’s journey as a writer.

Isaak Uriarte

Isaak Uriarte is a screenwriter, novelist, and co-founder of Black Brim Publishing. His love for film and TV quickly led him to study the art of creative writing. It wasn’t long before Isaak would begin internships with studios and write his own stories. Isaak would soon start working with children struggling with autism, which led him to meet the De Bolt family. This led to Karsten telling Isaak about his story for Midtown and asking for his help. The two then collaborated to develop Midtown into a fully fleshed-out novel. In turn, the two created their own publishing house, Black Brim Publishing, to further create stories and help others bring their own ideas to life.
